The Summer & Fall 2016 issue, dear reader, is on its way. Volume 11.1 of the New Series, this issue is unique, a golden hour edition to see out one editorship and to begin another. This time, you’ll see a trio on the masthead: Aaron Barrell, Kevin Craft, and Erin Malone. Next time around you’ll see a duo.
We’re excited to feature in this issue new poems from Bob Hicok, who appeared in our first Kevin Craft-edited issue back in 2010, and who sees out this issue in wry and frank style; from Carl Phillips, who was born in Everett, Washington, where the magazine is published; from Paula Closson Buck, Kathleen Flenniken, Kaveh Akbar, Floyd Skloot, Felicia Zamora, Andrew Grace, Michelle Peñaloza, Sarah Blake, and so many more. The issue also includes a selection of translations, with poems by Valerie Mejer Caso, Corrado Govoni, and others. Nate Klug anchors us with two poems and a prose meditation on poetry and translation. Always eager to slip into the furrow between the image and the word, we’re also pleased to featured the work of Justin Duffus–unsettling paintings for unsettling times–as well as memorable photographs by Joe Wankelman, and new work from Gabrielle Bates riffing on one of the issue’s poems.
We can’t wait for you to have this one in your hands. Let us know what you think.
