They say ash

They say ash is the new snow
in the hottest places. The bay
and the mountain are covered in smoke.
Children play in the grey streets,
learn to breathe little by little, don’t want
their lungs becoming solid.

Faraway fire illuminates the streets.
Seeing this world I can say:
the best light comes from fire.
Always warm. Always flickering.

Through this filter I see time made light
and suddenly I grasp that trouble
is now
rising
in the earth’s atmosphere.

But, in time,
when roots sprout from the barren
a calm forest will cover
the fields of dust
and in a deserted world
will create a new kind of moss.

ahora
en la atmósfera de la tierra.

Pero, en un tiempo,
cuando broten raíces de lo infértil
un bosque calmo cubrirá
los campos de polvo
y en un mundo solitario
creará un nuevo tipo de musgo.
