Three Stories

Rainafter Kupala Night, d. P. Szpakowicz, 1974

Angels built a tower at the end of all time. They watch as people
start a fire. The angels remove all of the people’s faces. The fire
continues and like moths the people. Like moths…the angels.

Angels built a tower at the end of time. The tower was filled with
clouds. They give a cloud the face of God. People come. They
start a fire. The God cloud begins to rain. The fire goes out.

Again. Angels built a tower at the end of all time. They watch as
people carve God’s face into a tree. The people set the tree on
fire. The people reach out with cupped hands and the angels
pour thousands of wooden moths into them.
